Finally. The iPhone is like a video game platform. Who here has ever tried releasing a game on the XBox 360? Anyone? Not easy is it.

Since when does the existence of something /worse/ justify the awfulness of something bad? That’s an amazingly poor argument, and please don’t try to justify it by pointing out worse arguments have been made.

It is a CONSUMER electronics platform. My mom can give two shits about someone’s app getting banned, so long as the ones she downloads are easy to use and don’t crash her phone.

For a lot of people, a mobile device like that is supposed to be a gateway to the office, to family and friends, on the road, it’s supposed to be a mini-laptop. Would Apple ban Thunderbird on OS X because it competes with Mail?
This is a pretty weak argument, unless you think the iPhone is a toy.

Developers should shut up and code.
The iPhone is a closed platform and everyone knew that up front. It’s just another paragraph that goes in the business plan. There’s no point complaining about it.
