small + beautiful + easy + seamless = a total win except for the pesky copyright and sync thing.

This is one of those “lets state the obvious” posts that garners traffic through techmeme. Kind of old media actually. Yes, media execs are asleep at the wheel because their car, so to speak, is driven by hegemony and this kind of pseudo-oligarchy type rule where they are the purveyors of what is “valid,” distilling it from the masses (those masses including blogs, etc). You see this played out every weekend when the New York Times or Fortune or someone runs a story about the latest “oh those kids!” Internet memes, and suddenly ti validates the meme as a cultural force. We play into this people! Hegemony only works if those that are deemed subservient validate the stratification. Without validation, the whole structure crumbles. The only way to impose the “new” on the “old” is to invalidate the hegemony by not playing into it. Stop doing interviews with the NYT, stop using it to validate something we know as truth already. Have faith in your own audience.

Listen to the new record Accelerate, which you know, kicks more ass than a donkey.
[From R.E.M. on iLike™]
This is seriously my favorite review of Accelerate. They have no clue what the lyrics are, but their made up ones are priceless. “Houston is in the spell of commerce“ Honestly. That is the funniest thing I’ve ever read.

seriously: awesome news if this is true. I hope they provide API hooks through XMPP payloads as well, as some good ole stateful API programs would be every nice indeed. Death to HTTP polling! FBML pushes through XMPP for the win!

This is an incredible story that I didn't know much about, but every jew and non-jew should read and be inspired by.

The ultimate twitter revenue is the use of premium SMS to provide for "fanclub" type feeds for some individuals. These would be exclusive feeds with some public messages and some private. For instance, imagine a band X that had a 1 dollar a month Twitter feed. The private 1 dollar a month feed included exclusive information, links to songs, etc. Also another twitter revenue source that can't happen if they don't fix their infrastructure: reselling the infrastructure! Getting good economies of scale with their SMS gateway and reuse from the HTTP and XMPP API's. The premium SMS one I've been hounding Ev and Biz about for a year now. I want it!
