Jesus. Idiotic. So NBC is going to be just saying basically “RSS subscribe to torrents using Miro or XTorrent! Auto-sync with your AppleTV!” YAY. Man, and I thought newspapers were stupid.

Patti as per usual puts it well: “Hilly Kristal was the good shepherd of a flock

of black sheep. We are forever grateful.” I met Hilly when I was 15 and visiting NYC for the first time since I was a baby. I had been into punk music that year (the Patti Smith NYC era, not the Agent Orange OC era), and my dad and I ventured to East Village (which was not all nice back 13 years ago) to see CBGB’s. It was middle of the day, Hilly was there and amicable and friendly, letting me look around the club. For me at 15, standing on the stage that Talking Heads, Television and Patti stood on was amazing. This week I walked past Bowery and Bleeker, what would be a day before he died, and that aura is still in that area, but its not the same. Rest in peace Hilly. The best artists are only born out of the best catalysts for their creations.

Awww, and I thought hyperbole was dead! Robert: posts like this make TechMeme no better than TMZ or Perez Hilton, just geekier.

Any bets on high def content for the AppleTV through the store, and direct purchase from AppleTV at this event? I’m saying - all signs point to yes.

Adobe Launches “Moviestar” Version of Flash Player - HD Television Quality for Web Video: nevermind the fact that this article I’m linking to has as much analysis as a press release. Here’s the interesting thing here: Flash Lite 3. Delayed. Consequence? Chumby, iPhone, etc - devices that depend on it, have rudimentary or no Flash support. iPhone and AppleTV consequently are relying on h.264 transcoded Flash videos from YouTube for their on-demand video content. So what does H.264 support in Flash mean? It means that Flash Lite 3, Apple iPhones (and other devices that’ll use FL3) as well as further embedded devices will have high quality, pixel-perfect resolution videos using a good, open codec. It also means YouTube might just make that transition to screen (via AppleTV and the like) sooner than you think. The chess pieces are there (handheld and set top computers reliant on H.264 as a prosaic stop-gap), and this is one of the final pieces of the puzzle. If I was Microsoft I’d be shitting myself about now.

“Superbad” was super good at the box office, proving that a no-name cast could hold its own amid A-list summer blockbusters. [From ‘Superbad’ delivers super debut - CNN.com]

I usually don’t put entertainment commentary on the side-bar, but shit. CNN - suck balls! A good movie can hold its own against a shitty one, any day.
