SECOND LIFE: A story too good to check - Valleywag: I have always liked Second Life, but they are in a position of either great returns or disaster, depending on how their publicist and PR treats the press they are getting.

I’d like to see their marketing/PR folks deflate the hype a little bit or at least drive it back to a storyline of “this is an emerging world that will take decades to reach its full potential.”
A company can take this longterm perspective and still be loved — just look at Google where the CEO has been very upfront that it will take hundreds of years for us to complete our mission.
