A CableCard That Hasn’t Been Able to Kill the Set-Top Box - New York Times you know, far be it for the cable companies and standards bodies to give us something that engenders choice and control over our own experience. Cablecard 1.0 SUCKS, this is why its not used. Cablecard 2.0 will be amazing, if and when it ever comes out. It’ll let us make a computer our own cable box and take ownership of our own experience on our own terms. That’d be nice. I hate my cable box.
