That After-Dinner Speech Remains a Favorite Dish - New York Times: I’m getting slightly irritated with the snide and condescending attitude that the major press is giving to Colbert’s amazingly brilliant roasting of the president at the correspondents dinner. You guys (big newspapers/media) were bested by a comedian. Get used to it. Get over it and more importantly, admit it. Its getting rather tiresome to read the numerous accounts of the event that diminish Colbert’s speech while falsely inflating the quite lame, quite insipid and self-serving “parody president” bit. The “surprise” regarding the blogosphere reaction is not so much a tacit admission of how out of touch newspapers are, but more direct evidence that in fact, big newspapers are completely out of touch and irrelevant in todays world.
