Friendster lost steam. Is MySpace just a fad?: Danah Boyd has a good essay on why MySpace is surviving while Friendster can’t even get acquired.

Yes Myspace is a fad, as the way it is going today, all of these people on, you get a slew of fakes, a slew of people acting ways the wouldnt normally act in person, gang members making it a dangerous place, I dont think myspace will die from another fad, but will die of faoult of itself, so will ipods, and it dosent seem that Videos games for the ps3 wii 360 generations are going to die, face it we are coming back into the quick fad times, people I mean the 15-18 0r 19 age is probally the main target of Myspace today, and we as the high school students, fads of 4 years, we are bsically the carriers of fads, we make em popular we kill em, when the site is started to get used by people you least espected, thats when you really drop in, when your 60 year old grandpa gets on Myspace, you know its dead, when the least cool cerleberity gets on myspace you know its dead, hey its the first fad the so called cool known celebs didnt get thier hands on already, but when cerleberities use it as just another basic plat, they already made it a little more bs, and now you have little 10,11,and 12 year old kids on the site, thats when it really gets uncool.
