I had scheduled a Salvation Army pickup for today. They were to pick up two box springs, a love seat and some other things around the apartment that we no longer wish to have.
I went to bed with the thought that the Salvation Army truck would be here between noon and three PM, as it stated on their handy, high tech website. I looked forward to a morning of quiet repose in bed, thinking, “oh my, all my material things that are excess will go to the needy, and my karma shall be restored.”
I was wrong.
These assholes (as they shall now be referred to as) showed up at 9:30AM, which conincidently is exactly to the minute when we woke up. They come in, glowering at us it seems, and then proceed to tell us that they can’t take our loveseat. OK, Snooper hated it and did her best to make it die, but that is besides the point. Then, to cap it off, Mr. “Driver” comes up and says that he will not take the box-springs, as we are not donating the matress as well.
Did you hear that? We were rejected by the Salvation Army.
And then, to cap everything off, they proceed to insult us, saying, “How long have you lived here?” to which I responded “Two years? Why?”
“Well you have a lot of stuff,” the man said, sarcastically whilst looking around our place.
No shit asshole, we’re moving, so its all in one place in the living room. Nice of you to notice.
So not only were we rejected, but we were insulted as well. I shuttled them out of the place urgently.
So let us recap: we were rejected by a charity organization.
Next time I see one of those Santa Clauses with the bells for the Salvation Army, I’m kicking them in the nuts. Merry fucking Christmas to you asshole.
And fuck the Salvation Army.

Yep, I got a recliner rejected by the assholes. Fortunately one of the construction workers on the Townhome next door must have liked it. Didn’t realize they were so damn picky
Posted 09 Jun 2005 at 10:21 pm ¶you know a country is just a little too rich when a charity rejects you. Bastards. Charities are just business people in disguise anyway.
Posted 15 Jun 2005 at 10:14 pm ¶It is not that they rejected you or they did not want to take your furniture. is because if the furniture is not in good condition then they will not be able to sell it to someone else. I was a volunteer at one of the locations and people donated thought that they were donating good stuff but it was actually trash….
Posted 15 Sep 2006 at 8:42 am ¶Yeah well, I just got rejected by a charity today. And I wasn’t offering junk. A couch and a chair, both in excellent condition, less than four years old. Know why they rejected it? Because there was a tiny tear, about half an inch in one of the arms. I put them up on freecycle (with the accurate description, mentioned the tear) this afternoon and got seven replies in an hour. I’ll never try to donate to a charity again.
Posted 19 Sep 2006 at 3:52 pm ¶The way I see all this is, there’s a reason why you don’t want it, so what makes you think someone else would want your trash? ever think of that!? And as far as The Salvation Army is concerned… they do more volunteery work than any other foundation around. How do you think the poor and the needy get fed, and warmth on these cold winter days? Maybe you should be looking at all the work they do, instead of duelling on the one thing they didn’t! Check out their site and see what The Salvation Army is all about. http://www.salvationarmy.org oh yeah… and… God Bless!
Posted 21 Jan 2007 at 5:37 am ¶Some people get rid of stuff because they are buying new stuff (e.g. the old stuff doesn’t match the new furniture). It doesn’t necessarily have to be junk. I would have been happy to get some of the stuff charities have rejected of mine. Granted, I don’t think people should give them trash, but I think I’m going to start shopping at charities since their standards seem to be higher than most stores that sell “new” goods.
Posted 08 Jun 2007 at 10:15 am ¶Most homeless shelters a fucking scam.
Posted 17 Jul 2007 at 2:20 pm ¶They get millions of dollars from people and the government. 90 million from the government in the states I heard. And a small portion actually gets to people in need.
They buy house for the big wigs to live in. Pay all their living expences. Treat their lower employees like shit. Treat the homeless like a number. Send money you donate locally, to bible thumping operations around the world. Fire people who arent christian.
Its all about the money.
Thats why they reject something they could have fuckin GIVEN away. Instead thought they could not swing a profit, so so rejected it.
Fuck the salvation army.
Frankly as a supervisor for a salvation army store I would love to say fuck ya back! First off I’m not the average church like guy I got hired like a normal dude and yeah I drink a beer on a hot day and have a kid like a lot of u. I get inta fights here and there but most importantly I work way 2 hard with little respect.. Imagine U wake up go 2 work at 8 am, arrive to see a public and county parking lot turned into a fuckin landfill.. Very filthy things like soiled and ripped sofas, mattresses, wood rotted furniture, pissed and shitted on clothing broken tvs, fucking bags of garbage, crack pipes and bongs, used condoms and more filthy fuckin shit.. Try cleaning that fuckin shit up to 5 days a week.. Who the fuck r u to dump on our property, do u c us shitting on ur doorstep, throwing our garbage in urs? NO….We have a basic fuckin respect standard that if I wouldn’t own it myself why would we put that on someone else. B realistic, we do u a favor, we help u and in helping u, it in turn helps another.. Well if u have items that will prove unhelpful for the people we intend to help than no we don’t want that. Fuck ur stained couch we r not cleaners. Ur broken tv no I don’t repair shit. That tiny piss stain on ur mattress, how bout u sleep on it and touch it with no sheet. I have done more help in 2 and a half years than most of u will in ur life. I don’t wanna fuckin medal no thank you no good job pal, I help cus its right and fuckin people over is wrong… Now I would like 2 say thank u 2 people who do give a damn and don’t expect and give qualtiy useable items for practical helpful use for others, 2 u others who abuse us… u r sad, no god bless u from me that aint my style but fuck u sure fits

Posted 01 Aug 2007 at 10:06 pm ¶Yes I agree. The Salvation Army is a Scam! They are really as you said it ‘assholes’. Get this, want to know more? Not only are they arrogant fools, they don’t even give to charity! NOT! They get paid by the States they do ‘business’ in, (yes it is referred to as business because they MAKE money!) yes they charge for housing VETERANS at Northport Long Island NY the State of NY (and get every penny) $1,540.00 per month for them to stay in a shelter for the homeless Vets ON Govt property (which they pay a whopping $1.00 per month rent as a courtesy from Uncle Sam) and pocket the difference! Wow, SOME do gooders! They do the same crap all over ring bells and cry whilst their officers and employees rake in the dough. They get DONATIONS to give stuff away, so don’t feel badly, they rejected your stuff because they can’t resell it for a nice profit. They are very keen on that, get stuff for free, sell it and THEN don’t even have to give to charity…so who is getting the cash? (It started in switzerland and still is based there). SO, FUCK THE SA! I agree! Not only that Uncle Sam pays them millions to run the food over in iraq. NOT FREE. Go figure, we have been thoroughly scammed once agai with the politicians blessings!
Posted 04 Apr 2008 at 6:53 pm ¶Also, everyone they ‘give’ shelter to is FORCED to WORK in slave like conditions 8 hours a day (those who aren’t lucky enough to be a Veteran where the state pays the freight) and then cannot ever leave because their too busy working for THEM to get a job. What a JOKE! FUCK THE SA they are the DEVIL!

Posted 22 Nov 2008 at 4:13 pm ¶i was a driver for 1 year with salvtion army,my job was to pick up donations.i also was in the adult rehabilitation program at the same time.i was told at first to p/u all donations whether it was torn furniture or not.our commander honestly believed that people should not be refused to donate items however, that changed because the arc was paying expensive dump fees for the continuous loads of unusable donated furniture.it would be a wonderful thing if they could have a place to store these torn or slightly damaged items and just offer it to those who wanted it for free but that is unrealistic to expect the salvation army to have a million sq. foot warehouse to store these items which come in each and every day.the stores that sell the donated goods are limited space and the army tries to put nice stuff in there,as they should.each arc is responsible for paying their expenses by what they sell in the stores and auto donation sales.the driver should try and kindly explain to the donators that.you cant please every1 but i found that more than likely when i explained this the majority understood.grant it the salvation army was not perfect as i saw on many issues but as far as donated items i would even ask the people if they would like me to carry it to the curb for them if in fact they just wanted it out so i hope this gives a little more insight into the donation pickups
Posted 28 Nov 2008 at 6:54 pm ¶guacomole wow, what can i say except obviously you have never stayed at a adult rehab facility.we were given off 1 day per week during the week, and a half a day on saturday.also off all day sunday.working in slave like conditions?we had pin pong,television/cable,outstanding meals well portioned, air conditioning, all the recreational work out equipment we could stand,a computer room,a library…man i’ll stop because the list goes on.but i do know that you have never stayed in a a.r.c. facility before.and if you did i can tell that you were probably one of those that got kicked out because you didnt want to do any work or went back out and used again, dont blame the army for your shortcomings or laziness.i never saw anyone at several different locations not just 1,work more that 8 hours a day…period
Posted 28 Nov 2008 at 7:12 pm ¶FYI the army was started in england guacamole not switzerland.
