Art Shows

Last night, I held what will be my last art show (most likely) at the schools student gallery. In terms of “art” I have fallen mostly on the “fart?” side of the art equation, thinking most art is only Art because of pompous egoists proclaiming its validity as an object. Art to me is more a particular way of viewing the planet, and manifesting that as a sensory artifact.

Anyhow…

Digital art is the same thing, just with computers doing the manipulation. As such, my work last night was supposed to be a metonymical stand in for my other work of nine years duration. It worked, people dug it, and were engaged and happy. Those that showed anyway. You see, of the 14 or so graduate students we have, only a third of them showed up to my show. The rest were around the building and campus, but could be arsed to come to an opening of one of their peers.

They suck.

Badly.

In fact, they suck so badly that I can’t even begin to articulate how much they suck. Its not a matter of the fact that they don’t like me. That is irellevant. Its a matter that it should be professional courtesy to support your fellow students. However, “professional” isn’t a concept I would ascribe to any of these assholes. “Talentless hacks” is a better one. “Future Kinkos night shift workers with the clap” is another one I’d use. Oh my dear friends, karma is a bitch, especially when you’re a cunt. I shall let it hunt you down and kick you in the face when you come licking my toes for a job some day.

Anyhow, the show was fun. We had Natasha there, a student of mine brought her ferret and there was much interspecies “what the fuck?” happening.

I also had a margarita bar there for the underaged drinkers present, and the Isla Vista bums, who finished it off. I do my part to help the homeless!

The MFA is done, and that is important, and I now can say I’m a mother fucking asshole, like you didn’t know that already.

i love this dr. seuss saying:
“there are two kinds of people in life the ones that mind that don’t matter, and the ones that matter that don’t mind…”… don’t let personal opinions about your work get to you as a person. and come visit nyc again soon!

I was going to recommend you have Natasha bite some of those who didn’t attend in the ass, but she might catch something from them. It was a good show and now it’s on to the big show
