Apple – To all iPhone customers
OK, now this is just a class act move all the way. $100.00 gift certificate for early adopters? Thats about equal to the depreciation on the device which means its kind of a wash. Nice one Steve.

Cool stuff, but using Control4 is cheating. And expensive.

I find it amusing that the same people who lament, mock and take glee in the demise of traditional media are very happy that one of the hallmarks of "New Media" - Techmeme - got a (deserved) profile in the New York Times.

Pretty much sums up my feelings on Android. I fear as well that with the rapid pace of "This is the BEST ANDROID PHONE ON THE MARKET" -- seemingly every three weeks -- we are nearly to the point where one company (say HTC) will cause an Osborne Effect on another manufacturer (say, Motorola or Samsung). It is only in each companies best interest to have the worlds best Android phone (WBAP for short). I fear its about to get nasty.

R.E.M. should, one random day, close down College Ave between Broad and Washington, setup a stage, play, pack up and head back into their office. Unannounced.

Unfortunately early adopters for CD players, normal cell phones, and video game systems don’t even get the courtesy of a $100 gift card. At least Apple is pretending to care about early adopters. Other industries could learn to do the same.
Sure, care about getting them to part with EVEN MORE of their money… its a $100 credit toward the purchase of more stuff from apple. What are the chances that someone who just bought an iphone is also gonna want an ipod nano and not end up spending more than $100 on what they buy.
Its yet another SJ snowjob.
This is classic Steve Jobs. Everyone was furious about the price cuts, but then Apple pull this out of the bag (was it already written??) and now everyone’s like “wow, they’re so cool!”. What this has done has provided Apple with another round of AMAZING publicity for the iPhone in the blogging community as well as the mainstream press. Marketers everywhere should take note.
