April Shit Day

Is it my imagination or did April Fools Day bring every “a-list” blogger some sense that they could be funny? I browsed through my archives and it was all lame “I work for the competition!” jokes. Please people: get over yourselves. We don’t care. Work at Starbucks for the amount it effects me and my everyday life.

Beyond that: the wedding I had on April 1 was fun. More importantly, REM played in Athens, GA on this date as a reunited four-piece. And we have the record it.

Suck it A-listers. Buck, Mills, Berry and Stipe performing Country Feedback in Athens, GA trumps all.

The most fitting description of April Fools Day I’ve ever read described it as the day when unfunny people get to play at being funny.

  1. And when does this REM record of which you speak get released?

  2. I agree with dwlt. Is YOUR April Fool’s Joke that there’s this “recording” you have that is really cool, but that no one will ever have? :) Share it!!

  3. Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning? High Schoolesque quibbles of status does not suit you.

I agree with you that the AFD jokes were lame. But, c’mon…..”My REM album is better than your lame ass joke”?

My stated thesis is that April Fools day 2006 was trumped by R.E.M. playing, not that its my album or anything.

  4. Awesome – thanks for the torrent link.

  5. Touche. Maybe a lack of coffee, but I guess I just tire of (what I interpreted as) school yard squabbling on the net.

The link below is not the most eloquently spoken post about what is failing on the net, but it does sum up what I thought when I read your post…..

As I said before, your are bang on when it comes to the criticism of the AFD stuff being lame.

  6. They’re offering torrents now? Sweet! Thanks!!
